St Teresa’s is a very popular school serving families from both Merton and Sutton.
The school is Voluntary Aided, meaning that even though it is part of the Merton Local Education Authority, it is partly financed by the Arch Diocese of Southwark. The school therefore is not under Local Authority control and staff are employed by the school Governors.
The school serves a rich and increasingly diverse community. Most children in the school have a british background, we also welcome increasing numbers of families for whom English is a second language. The school serves a number of communities and in particular, the Ghaniain, Polish, Filipino and Sri Lankan communities who form the largest non English speaking groups in our school. It is worth noting that children for whom English is an additional language make excellent progress and achieve consistently higher than national averages.
